UPDATE: ON SEPTEMBER 7th, 2020 WILDFIRE SWEPT THROUGH THE MCKENZIE RIVER VALLEY, DESTROYING HUNDREDS OF HOMES AND THOUSANDS OF ACRES OF FOREST. FORTUNATELY THE COMMUNITY CENTER DID NOT BURN AND NOW HOSTS THE RAINBOW RELIEF CENTER.
Sixty years ago the "big red building" on the banks of the McKenzie River was built by local residents as a place to gather for fun, learning, and celebration.
The Upper McKenzie Community Center (UMCC) organization and events are run by volunteers, and funded by Membership, donations, and rentals.
The UMCC is a "Social and Recreation Club". The social-distancing requirements needed to deal with COVID-19 have reduced our ability to have large events.
Over the past 6 decades events here have created a "community memory." If you want share your story about events of the past please send it to us by email. We hope to be able to meet together again soon! Read about the events and stories of the past here.

Special Fundraiser to buy a Generator: The Rainbow Relief Center has food for local residents from Food for Lane County. Please Donate to UMCC to buy a generator to power the building when the next electrical outage happens.
